Revival: Lovegrove Builders Seniors back in business.

The 2018/19 season see the revival of the NPMUCC Senior team.

The current crop of players sees a great blend of both youthful exuberance, and experience with a few old heads.

The team will be led by the veteran Hayden Birss, who is excited at the prospect of directing such a talented bunch around the field. He will have the able assistance of other experienced players in Lincoln Reed, Mathew Sim, and Justin Lovegrove.

Bryce Hannam joins the squad and will assist with not only a key role with the ball, but also his ability in a managerial role.

As previously mentioned this season sees the return to Marist of ex livewire Andrew Kelly, who will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the field and also as a sound top order batsman. Other notable top order players who will make their presence felt are Jason Meuli, Mathew Sim and Lincoln Reed.

There is also plenty on offer with the ball from this well rounded group. Bryce Hannam will take ownership of the new ball, ably assisted by others such as Hayden Birss and Nick Dravitski. There is a host of other player with the ability to also be utilised with ball in hand. Allrounders to chip in with both bat and ball include Levi Mcphee and  Seti Gobindeep Singh, both with talent to burn.

Other players making a return to the field will include Chad Morrison, Craig Sole, Richard Buttermore, and Nick Siffleet. The latter two sharing the keeping duties.

Finally there is a sprinkling of talented youth with the inclusion of Michael Kerr, Terrell Erwood, and Liam Burnet. The addition of young Mike Kerr brings the sought after skills of left arm spin to what is a well-rounded bowling skill set amongst the team.

This team looks to be the perfect blend to make a real challenge to all opposition, in what should prove to be a hotly tested competition. This year’s comp will see a resurgence from Woodleigh with many returning player strengthening last year’s squad, also the usual country strength of Pihama and Auroa. Inglewood always prove difficult to overcome, and NPBH have pushed their second eleven up a grade and will surely bring a new level of young talent to the comp.

All in all the Marist team are looking forward to testing themselves against all opposition, and with such a great bunch of players, will no doubt have a hell of a good time in doing so.

We look forward as always, to the support of club players and supporters in following our progress throughout.
